Christmas is the festival of light. As we enjoy the festive lights here, we think especially of those people for whom electric light is not a matter of course. Thanks to your tremendous support, we have been able to make a decisive difference again this year with VoltaViewAfrica.org..
More than just electricity: creating opportunities
With your help, we have succeeded in not only installing solar modules in sub-Saharan Africa, but also in creating real livelihoods.
Where expensive and environmentally harmful diesel generators used to run, clean energy now provides:
We are proud that this year, together with our technology partners, Fraunhofer HHI and Clausthal University of Technology, as well as VoltaMove GmbH, we were able to prove that high-quality technology works best where it is most urgently needed.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your trust and your willingness to donate. We wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and an energetic, healthy New Year!
Our vision
VoltaViewAfrica.org is a non-profit organization promoting development aid in the areas of renewable energies, e-mobility, and drinking water in sub-Saharan Africa. To this end, decentralized, solar-powered energy supply systems (powerhouse systems) are planned and built in collaboration with local partners, and suitable business models are developed to ensure the sustainable operation of the systems. The goal is to provide everyone with affordable access to electricity, drinking water, and mobility.
The basic technology required for this was developed in Germany by the internationally renowned Fraunhofer HHI and Clausthal University of Technology. The systems and components are manufactured and distributed by the start-up company VoltaMove GmbH.

The installed Powerhouse systems, together with the mobile, lightweight, and portable battery power packs, open up completely new possibilities: What used to be diesel generators and the power grid are now the Powerhouse and the VoltaMove2Go power packs. Forward-looking concepts such as Mobility as a Service—for example, electric mobility for fishing boats, adapted to the needs and economic conditions of local fishermen in sub-Saharan Africa—but also the promotion and support of women through the establishment of micro-enterprises such as sewing workshops and solar laundromats are now possible in rural areas thanks to this new technology.

The Watoto wa Africa Orphanage
The Watoto Wa Africa orphanage in Mwanza/Tanzania is an institution in great need, as it has no or only irregular electricity and no drinking water. Its only source of water is the collection of rainwater in large tanks. In spring 2023, there was a typhoid epidemic with fatalities. To support the orphanage, VoltaViewAfrica will install a Powerhouse by the end of this year, which will provide electricity and clean drinking water for the orphanage. This project is supported by the Rotary Club of Goslar.
